Fabric

[Sashiko-ori] The Enshu region has long nurtured highly skilled craftsmen, and even today is known as one of Japan's leading cotton textile production areas. This fabric is carefully woven by skilled craftsmen at a long-established workshop in the Enshu region, which has been in business for 150 years, while maintaining the texture of the cotton and yarn. This season, we have achieved a lightness and softness not seen in conventional stitch-weave fabrics by using finer threads than usual. [Suminagashi] Suminagashi is an ancient Japanese transfer technique, in which dye is dropped into water in a tank, and the freely spreading shape is transferred onto the fabric as it is, thus creating the pattern. In a workshop in Kyoto, craftsmen create each piece of cloth one by one in a smooth process. No two patterns are the same.
